Aktau International Trade Seaport

The Aktau Port Modernisation Project, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), aims to significantly enhance Kazakhstan’s primary maritime gateway on the Caspian Sea. With an estimated total cost of EUR 55 million, the project will expand the Aktau Sea Commercial Port JSC’s container-handling capacity and improve operational efficiency. This initiative is crucial for accommodating the increasing cargo volumes moving along the Middle Corridor, a vital trade route.

The project encompasses several key components. These include the procurement of two state-of-the-art ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, the extension of Berths No. 3 and No. 12 to handle larger vessels, and the engagement of a Construction Supervision and Project Implementation Support Consultant. These elements are designed to collectively strengthen the port’s infrastructure and ensure its long-term operational effectiveness.

To ensure transparent, competitive, and efficient procurement processes, an experienced consultant will provide advanced procurement support and tender preparation. This support will adhere strictly to EBRD’s Procurement Policies and Rules and environmental and social requirements. The consultant’s role will facilitate the timely and effective implementation of the project, ensuring that the Aktau Port Modernisation Project achieves its objectives in line with international best practices.
